Clearly, the bankers, stockbrokers, and corporate politicians have no solution to the mess they created. The burden of recession, however, won't rest on their shoulders but instead will be placed overwhelmingly on working people and the poor. Socialist Alternative is asking you and all its supporters to donate all - or if you can’t afford that, a portion - of your tax rebates to help us build the fightback.

Even at my young age, I could not grasp why there were so many problems in our country when we were supposedly the number one nation and everyone was jealous of our freedom.

The invasion of Iraq was announced on my 20th birthday and, disillusioned, I turned a blind eye. I knew the war was wrong and I knew on a basic level it was about profits, but I had no idea what to do about it, until I joined an antiwar coalition where I met members of Socialist Alternative and began studying socialist ideas.

"I've been angry for many, many years about our administration and so have lots of youth. I'm really frustrated, for one, because I can't vote for President or legislators, but I can make a stand for what I believe in."
- Amy Englesberg, 17 year-old high school senior (Bellingham Herald)
